Blessed are the peacemakers…

Most people thank veterans today. I do not. Instead, I’m going to use this day to thank the dissidents throughout this country’s history. Particularly those who spoke out against war and were criticized, jailed, or ostracized for doing so. Thank you, Henry David Thoreau. Thank you, Emma Goldman. Thank you, Eugene V. Debs. Thank you, Dorothy Day and the Catholic Workers. Thank you, Noam Chomsky. Thank you, Howard Zinn. Thank you, Martin Luther King, Jr. Thank you, Daniel Ellsberg. Thank you, Muhammad Ali. Thank you, Jane Fonda.  Thank you, John Lennon. Thank you, Abbie Hoffman.Thank you, Allen Ginsberg. Thank you, Dennis Kucinich. Thank you, Scott Ritter. Thank you, Cindy Sheehan. Thank you, Mike Gravel. I don’t mean disrespect to veterans. But until the peacemakers have their own day, I’m going to co-opt the one for warriors.
