Hermit Monk in St. Anthony’s Cave

St. Anthony was the father of Christian monasticism.

He lived in a cave in the Eastern Desert of Egypt. There is now an ancient monastery near the cave. Still in use and has been since about the year 400.  It is one of two of the oldest Christian monasteries in the world (The other is St. Catherine’s on Mt. Sinai, also in Egypt). Look at the pictures of both monasteries in those links. Amazing!

Here is a video of a hermit monk, devoted to St. Anthony, living in what is traditionally believed to be St. Anthony’s cave.

I found it to be interesting.
